Georges et Janet à Kurrawa
Hello Fellow Lifesavers. Attached are a few shots from our last Australian Titles @ Kurrawa on the Gold Coast. After 12 years @ Kurrawa we are on the move to Scarborough, Western Australia. Mother nuture once again gave us a run for our money with Queensland being hit with two cyclones right on time for the titles. I know when you see the photos you would not believe that the first two days had to be moved south to a safer beach and one that actually had a beach, Kurrawa had no beach due to the high tide. Four days before the titles the cyclone had 15.6 metre swells rolling in off the Gold Coast. This years competition arena was spread out over 2 kms with 7850 competitors hitting the beach helped out by 570 Officials. The open mens ski put 378 competitors through the first round.. So not to bad of numbers for our last Titles in Queensland for a few years. And for all of those that would like to give Alan Whelpton a little stir, even with Dawn Fraser playing in his team ,they did not win the Golf Championships, mind you they did beat our team much to his delight, he loves beating the Mexicans from Victoria... For those of you that are about to open up your beaches and to those that are about to close down, Happy Beaching to you all.. George & Janet....
